Dermapen - Stretch Marks and Scarring Treatment

“Fade away those unwanted stretch marks.”

Stretch marks, medically known as “striae,” are most commonly associated with rapid physical changes in the body such as pregnancy, weight gain, weight loss, muscle building or puberty. While there is no medical concern related to stretch marks, stretch marks can make some people feel quite self-conscious.

Fortunately, Dr Donna from Bartchall Medical can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks through our Dermapen treatment.

What is the Dermapen Treatment for Stretch Marks?

Dermapen is a micro-needling treatment used for the aesthetics to tighten and rejuvenate the skin. The micro-needling process involves tiny needles penetrating the surface of the skin.

The Dermapen is an advanced micro-needling device with 12 tiny needles on the very tip. A motor inside the device moves the needles back and forth rapidly over the surface of the skin. In response, the body treats these tiny punctures as a wound, naturally initiating the healing process that stimulates the generation of collagen and elastin in the skin. Collagen and elastin slowly “fill” the stretch marks, making their appearance reduce over the course of the treatment.

Dr Donna is one of the many doctors around the world who has embraced Dermapen treatments because of its effectiveness and efficiency when it comes to handling common skin conditions such as stretch marks.

The Science Behind the Process

Two layers make up our skin – the outermost layer called the epidermis, and the second layer referred to as the dermis. To effectively treat stretch marks, the epidermis needs to be penetrated, this is where the Dermapen works.

Once the outer layer of the skin has been penetrated, there is direct access to the dermis, the second layer of the skin. Then, we are able to combine topical serums with your micro-needling treatment that are delivered deep into the dermis layer of the skin increasing the effectiveness of the treatment.

How Soon Will I See Results?

Depending on the individual condition, up to 6 treatments may be required at intervals of 4 weeks each. In some cases, visible results can be noticed as early as one week after the treatment, however, the full effect will not reveal itself until several weeks after the final session.

Bartchall Medical recommends booking in for a consultation with Dr Donna where she can give you a more accurate assessment of your treatment needs.

Is Micro-needling Safe?

If you follow pre-and post-procedural care instructions from the practitioner, micro-needling is safe and can have positive results in reducing the appearance of stretch marks.

We always advise patients to seek out practitioners who can demonstrate training credentials and experience for medical micro-needling treatments.
