DermaSweep

Acne Treatment

Why Choose A DermaSweep Treatment?

A DermaSweep treatment is often used for the treatment of acne, to improve the appearance of skin through skin rejuvenation and hydration, to treat pigmentation, sun damage and for peels.

About DermaSweep

Before we can fully understand the benefits of DermaSweep, we first need to understand microdermabrasion.

Essentially, microdermabrasion is simply the removal of the dead skin cells on the outer layer of the skin. There are many different microdermabrasion methods to achieve this outcome – usually involving tiny crystals that buff over the skin. Another traditional method uses an abrasive tip to remove the dull skin. While both methods are effective, their only purpose is the removal of the dead skin cells from the top layer of skin.

How does Dermabrasion Differ?

Dermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure that takes traditional microdermabrasion one step further with the use of a machine called DermaSweep. A variable-level vacuum gentle lifts the skin against a specifically selected treatment tip to remove the outer layer of dead skin cells. The vacuum action of the DermaSweep device stimulates blood flow to the surface of the skin which encourages collagen production, thus, firming and toning the epidermis as well.

In addition to the removal of the dead skin cells, DermaSweep allows us to include infusion therapy into your treatment. While the pores on your skin are open and surface of the skin free of any dead skin cells, a soft silk tip is then used to infuse the skin with topical serums that specifically address dermatology conditions such as acne. This allows the clinician to deliver a much more effective treatment that is tailored to each patient’s unique skincare needs.

Is the treatment painful?

A DermaSweep treatment is actually quite relaxing. It is very safe and painless. Your skin should feel quite smooth after the treatment.

How Long Does a Treatment Take?

Each treatment is tailored to the patient’s specific skin condition; however, typically a treatment will take around 30 minutes.

How Soon Will I See Results?

Typically, you will notice a mild skin tightening and warm pinkish glow after your treatment. With varying degrees of acne, results and timeframes may vary from patient to patient. Post-treatment care is extremely important with managing acne, and may involve prescription medication and “at home” care between DermaSweep treatments. Our clinician, Dr. Donna Challinor will discuss further treatment options on an individual basis in order to achieve the best possible results in combating your skin condition.
