Dermal Products for Creating Volume.

Derma Fillers

Ageing has an impact on the appearance of our skin, particularly on areas such as our face and hands. The ageing of our skin causes a loss of volume, resulting in wrinkles and skin sagging skin and that loss of a youthful facial definition or smooth-look on our hands.

Dermal products for volume are often used to combat the effects of ageing by creating soft tissue augmentation. The results of dermal volumizers restore the natural youthful facial definition, reduce wrinkles on the hands and fill acne and for surgical scars.

The choice of the most appropriate dermal volumizer product requires the clinical knowledge of both the detailed anatomical structures and the dermal product properties.

How do the products for dermal volumising work?

Products for Dermal volumizing are designed to replace the lost soft tissue which is composed of collagen, elastin, ground substance made of mucopolysaccharides and water.

These products work to support the collagen and hyaluronic acid. The latter tends to absorb more water, thus producing more tissue swelling after injection. Some have an added effect of stimulating the body to produce its own collagen.

How long do the effects last?

At Bartchall Medical, only non-permanent dermal products are utilized and will last from 6 months to 2 years.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a harmless sugar molecule in the form of a gel that exists naturally in your body and lubricates our muscles, joints and connective tissue. Hyaluronic acid has an incredible ability to hold many times its own weight in water – therefore providing deep penetrating moisture to the skin. It is no surprise that hyaluronic acid is now a commonly found ingredient in many skin care serums and creams.

Are the treatments safe?

When administered correctly, the side effects are rare, however, it is completely normal to experience mild swelling after a treatment which may last up to 24 hours. Although very rare, other possible side effects may include bruising, lumps or skin discoloration, often the case of poor administration.

Unfortunately, with widespread acceptance and affordability of the procedure, more and more clinics are now offering these products without the correct training or experience. Dermal product injections are a medical procedure, and therefore should only ever be carried out by an experienced medical professional.

Which regions can these products be used on?

Dermal products used for  treatments focus on smoothing out wrinkles and facial lines and rejuvenating the skin. The common areas targeted are;

  • Lips
  • Cheeks
  • Chin
  • Temples
  • Nose
  • Deep folds and wrinkles
  • Acne scars

Which regions can dermal products be used on?

Your initial consultation with our practitioner will take about an hour and will allow us to discuss all the essential details in your medical history. During this consultation, we will answer any questions you may have to ensure that you are fully informed about your decision before you proceed any further.

Following your initial consultation, our practitioner will then be able to determine which dermal filler is most suited for your individual condition. A numbing anesthetic cream will be applied to the treatment area to reduce any discomfort. The procedure itself usually takes less than 30 minutes and has instantly visible results. You can resume your everyday activities at the completion of the procedure.

What to do after the procedure?

You must leave the treated region to settle for at least 48 hours following the treatment. It is strongly advised not to apply any new products on the treated area, or have any other procedure done in the few days following the treatment. It is also advised to avoid strong exposure to sunlight for a few days following the procedure.

Will the procedure hurt?

Some patients do experience mild discomfort during the treatment, however, this is well-tolerated. The lips are usually the most sensitive area to treat. Local anesthetic cream will be applied around 30 minutes before the treatment to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.
